The Role of Newspaper in Modern Life

Newspaper is a paper that carries news to us every day. A newspaper is a storehouse of knowledge. By reading a newspaper, we can enrich our knowledge. An educated man of modern age cannot go without a newspaper for a single day.
 
The history of newspaper is old. The first newspaper was brought out in Venice. 'The Indian Gazette' was the first newspaper in our subcontinent. 'The Samachar darpan' was the first Bangla newspaper.
 
There are various kinds of newspapers like our dailies, the weeklies, the monthlies, pictorials and so on. There are weeklies of children and women and also quarterlies about sports. There is a cinema newspaper too.
 
There are a number of English and Bangla dailies in Bangladesh. They are the prothom Alo, the Shomokal, the Jugantor, the Naya Diganto, the Ittefaq, the Inqilab, the daily star, the Bangladesh observer, etc.
 
A newspaper contains all sorts of news and views: business news, political news, sports news, news of discoveries and some strange news. They are very helpful for building up a developed nation. Besides, various periodicals and magazines contain stories, poems, essays, novels, drama, etc.
 
A newspaper is the cheapest means of mass communication and education. It gives us both pleasure and knowledge. New plans of the governments are circulated through newspapers. Achievements of great men are also published in them.
 
Sometimes false news excite public opinion and sentiment. It polluted the peaceful environment of a country. It should be stopped as early as possible. For this, the journalist should be natural, and the environment should also be conscious of this.
 
A newspaper is a mirror of the world. The role of the newspaper in modern life is very great. So we should read good newspapers regularly.
